The Natives

The tribes of America spread continent wide - when they spilled over from the ice bridge around 40,000 (maybe 80,000) years ago. There is lots of geography on the continent - and hence a lot of tribes with their distinct languages, cultures and stories.

All had deep connection to nature and animals.

Here is a fun game - from the "Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park" in Amador County in California.

On a side note, I have tried making simple bread/biscuit from oak acorns - a pretty long process to remove the bitterness. It has an earthy taste - which I can get used to I think :)

The holes in the rock (for crushing acorns) and the mortar and pestle (pata - varvanta) reminded me of the Inamgaon archeological visit in Maharashtra.
